How it Started
Spring of 2020 brought change to the world, and our own community, in the form of a viral pandemic. This affected fundraising events of all kinds, most notably the large Schoolfest of Lakeland School. Lakeland is for Walworth County special needs students.
Local business owners Tommy Purcell and Lisa Line, along with some friends, coordinated a golf outing, in hopes of raising some much needed funds for Lakeland School. Even with a short timeframe to plan, the small group pulled it off. Those that participated were generous with their donations and enjoyed a beautiful day for golf at Delavan's own Delbrook Golf Course, followed by a dinner in the pavillion.
How It Continued
With Lakeland's Schoolfest event again cancelled in 2021, Tommy and his friends decided they would once again host a golf outing to raise funds. Due to continued generosity of this community, the group raised $10,000.
These efforts help provide the students of Lakeland School with supplemental educational materials and experiences such as outdoor education, community experiences and transportation, adaptive technology for communication, prom, athletics, fine arts programming, and much more.
How It's Going
The 4th Annual Hunter's Automotive Golf Outing to Benefit Lakeland School will be Saturday, June 24th, 2023. Delbrook Golf Course has again agreed to be the host, which will ensure another great event!
As we believe this will be an annual event for years to come, we took the steps necessary to establish a non-profit entity to ensure fundraising transparency.
